Press Release – Business Bikers Event Merges Leadership and Motorcycles

Business Bikers Networking Day Merges Executives, Leadership and Motorcycles.

Orangeville, Ontario, Sept 18, 2011 – A passion for motorcycling and a chance to combine business, pleasure and adventure, will cap the riding season and draw business bikers — executives, legal and financial professionals and business owners — to The Manor near Aurora, ON on October 11th. Presented by Grant Thornton LLP and led by business leaders who are also seasoned riders, attendees will have an opportunity to have try out new motorcycles, improve their skills and discover new strategies for success they can take back to their businesses – all while building professional relationships.

“Successful leaders challenge the status quo, manage risk, explore new ways of doing things and encourage creativity,” says Randy Adamkowski, Senior Partner at Grant Thornton LLP. “These traits are inherent in riders. Business Meets Bikers is a fun-filled day that attracts business leaders interested in using their positions to make a difference in the lives of others – be it at work or in their communities.”

“The goal of any business is balanced, holistic, and all-encompassing growth,” continues Adamkowski, who rides a 2008 105th Anniversary Edition Harley-Davidson® Road Glide. “Our rapidly changing economic environment means that age-old infrastructures are under siege from a host of new business ideas, client expectations and market demands. This means using innovative strategies to prepare the way for future leaders.”

“Anyone who rides a motorcycle knows its attraction and propensity to build immediate, lasting connections.” adds Liz Jansen, President of Trillium Motorcycle Tours & Events, seasoned rider and former Human Resources Professional. “Intentionally introducing that energy into a professional setting with senior leaders creates a synergy that doesn’t exist elsewhere. The potential for a ripple effect and driving positive change is enormous.”

“Ironically, while leadership pundits have dissected Fortune 500 corporations to understand why they’re successful,” Jansen continues, “a past-time based on the need for adventure, freedom and self-expression breeds leaders with qualities sought by best-in-class organizations worldwide. Innovative outreach, such as this event, shows why Grant Thornton LLP has been recognized as one of Canada’s best workplaces for a fifth consecutive year.”

Adventurer and philanthropist Lia Grimanis will kick off the day with her presentation on Success At Any Cost. Once homeless and penniless, Grimanis became a successful businesswoman in the top 1% of income earners in the country. She’ll present strategies for success that can be immediately implemented in the workplace.

Mark Richardson will offer inside information on how to manage the media through his talk on Motorcycles and the Media. Richardson, Automotive Editor for Macleans magazine and former Toronto Star Wheels editor will draw on personal and professional anecdotes gained as both a writer and assigning editor in every medium, mainstream and specialized, to provide insights on how to reach a target audience.

The afternoon is set aside for riding area back roads. Deeley Harley-Davidson® Canada will offer free test rides of 2013 models from their “Test our Metal” demo fleet. Zero Motorcycles, which feature today’s most advanced electric motorcycle technology will also have demo models available. Also on-hand is world-class trainer Clinton Smout of SMART Programs to provide hands-on skills training.

Assante Wealth Management is also sponsoring this year’s event. In keeping with the theme of leadership and modeling positive change, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been designated the event charity and will receive a portion of proceeds.
