Quotes on Empowerment
There is a mistaken perception that the Road to Empowerment takes us to somewhere outside of ourselves. Perhaps a destination where we can pick up a pre-ordered package of power.
Nothing could be further from the truth. The Road each of us travels, indeed leads us to our power, but that power is within us. The Road always leads us back to who we are.
And so on this Labor Day weekend, when we’re celebrating the last long weekend of the summer, I’ve gathered a few favorite quotes that capture my perspective.
Regarding the Road to Empowerment
“Wanderer, your footsteps are the road, nothing more; there is no road — you make the road by walking. Turning to look behind, you see the path you will never travel again.” – Spanish poet Antonio Machado
“If you can see your path laid out in front of you step by step, you know it’s not your path. Your own path you make with every step you take. That’s why it’s your path.” –Mythologist Joseph Campbell
“What I am looking for is not out there. It is in me.” Helen Keller
Wisdom from favorite authors:

“I can’t go back to yesterday – because I was a different person then.” – Lewis Carroll, from Alice in Wonderland
“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.” – Dr.Suess
